Forecasting the medical care costs of the HIV epidemic
Abstract
The 1991 average cost of treating an AIDS patient was $32,000 a year, including inpatient, outpatient, home care, and other services. The figures in this first comprehensive forecast of the cost of treating all people with HIV is relevant for the policymakers developing budgets for health services--and thus helping to shape the home care industry.
