Abstract
With the conflicting priorities of attracting qualified personnel and yet containing costs, healthcare institutions require pertinent, timely information on compensation and benefits. Data such as, 1985 salaries overall rose by 6 percent and incentive compensation programs have become more prevalent with 38.7 percent of reporting hospitals indicating they are planning to install a plan, can be useful information to the healthcare administrator concerned with the competitiveness of the institution's salary and benefit programs.
