Abstract

Both management and labor can appreciate that health care costs are absorbing a fast-growing percentage of total compensation dollars, but they may disagree on what to do about it. The President of Corporate Health Designs suggests some strategies for achieving consensus, focusing on a program that combines aggressive workplace health promotion with financial incentives for employees--"carrots" for those who try to be healthy, "sticks" for those who don't.
