[The role of agonists of serotonin receptor 5HT1B/D in pathogenesis and treatment of migraine attacks]
Abstract
The role of 5HT receptor agonists in pathogenesis of migraine are presented in the review in therapeutic aspects. Serotonin has been documented in several studies as an important mediator in migraine reactions and its receptors has been classified from 5HT1 to 5HT7. Serotonin receptor agonists are able to control and inhibit migraine attacks, however their mechanism of action is known only partially.
