Abstract

The first recorded case of submucous fibrosis in a Chinese woman in Papua New Guinea is described. The essential clinical and pathological characteristics of the condition are presented and a scheme of management suggested. The pre-cancerous nature of the disease and the need for early diagnosis and regular review of affected patients are stressed.
