Abstract

This article discusses the embryology and surgical treatment of diseases of the salivary glands, which require precise knowledge of anatomy. Knowledge of the course of the facial nerve enables safe removal of parotid tumors. The submandibular gland is associated intimately with the lingual and hypoglossal nerves.
