Abstract

The general principles of protein-carbohydrate lectin interactions were discussed. Experimental evidences of the molecular mimicry between carbohydrate and protein lectin ligands were analyzed. The interdomain interactions in lectins as well as the interactions between ligands and lectin domains other than carbohydrate-binding domains were considered.
