Abstract

In a randomized double-blind study the new effervescent iron tablet Loesferron was tested in 57 postpartum patients. Hgb and red blood count rose significantly with this treatment. It was found that on effervescent tablet daily was sufficient for a satisfactory result of the treatment. No side effects were noted to this well tasting iron beverage. The reason is probably the prior dilution of the iron compound which delivers lower local iron potentials to the gastric mucosa.
