Abstract

AIDS: While some HIV-positive patients see no need to practice safe sex with positive partners, physicians are cautioning them that this practice is dangerous. Partners may be infecting each other with different drug-resistant strains of HIV, as well as exposing each other to a number of sexually transmitted diseases and opportunistic infections. These other infections may also increase viral loads and cause more rapid disease progression. HIV-positive patients should continue using condoms and practicing safe sex to protect their health.
