HIV/STD integration: new data help forge linkage
Abstract
AIDS: HIV and STDs are being linked through clinical and epidemiological studies, and coordination of services is being pushed more aggressively. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will publish guidelines later this year on how to integrate HIV and STD screening and services. Effective STD prevention is an essential part of effective HIV prevention, and the guidelines are an outgrowth of research on co-infection rates. A table includes case rates for selected STDs in the United States.
