Disability and returning to work: proposed change to let disabled keep benefits

J S James. AIDS Treat News. .

Abstract

AIDS: President Clinton's projected budget for 1999 includes a proposal that will allow many people who are officially disabled to return to work without risking their medical benefits. A similar proposal already has strong bipartisan support in Congress. Benefits expert Tom McCormack details changes in the requirements to receive disability income and describes situations that might discourage people from working because their medical disability might discontinue.
