Abstract

AIDS: A grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to the HIV Outpatient Program of the Medical Center of Louisiana (HOP) will establish PalCare, a program to assist people with advanced HIV/AIDS by supplying palliative care services. Palliative care bridges the gap between traditional medical responses and hospice care by providing symptom relief, support services for patients and families, and education for health care providers. PalCare is expected to serve as a model for coordinated efforts of palliative care services in other HIV/AIDS programs.
