[Pancreatic phospholipase A2]

Abstract

Pancreatic phospholipase A2 is one of the digestive enzymes in pancreatic juice. As there are other phospholipase activities in the serum, serum pancreatic phospholipase A2 is measured by immunoassay. A decrease in the serum level of this enzyme is significantly correlated with pancreatic dysfunction demonstrated by the secretin test. Recently, pancreatic phospholipase A2 was reported to be a potent growth factor, and its receptor on the cell surface was cloned.
