Celera and HGSC reconstructions are not the same. The black segments, about 2.34 Gbp, agree between the two reported sequences. The dark gray segments represent sequence unique to an assembly that is essentially nonrepetitive, whereas the light gray segments represent repetitive DNA unique to each assembly. The gray hatched segments represent redundant data that should have been assembled with other sequences, and should therefore not be counted.
