Minimising potential side-effects of medication at different ages
Abstract
When prescribing and administering drugs, it is important to consider the patient's developmental stage. As individuals pass from fetus to a neonate, through infancy to childhood, adolescence, maturity and old age, major changes in anatomy and physiology occur that are reflected in different abilities to handle and respond to drugs.
