The clinical electromyography examination. An overview
Abstract
Clinical electromyography (EMG) is the electrophysiological study of nerve and muscle. The terminology of the electrodiagnostic and needle electromyographic is confusing. The scope of the EMG studies, preparation of patient, referral process and recommended procedures are discussed. Report generation is a major function of the electromyographer. It should include tabulated nerve conduction studies and needle EMG findings along with brief history, summary of findings, and impression.
