Infection control policies in nursing homes
Abstract
The number of people living in nursing homes is increasing because of the ageing population. Older people are particularly vulnerable to infection, so it is important that infection control policies are drawn up for use in nursing homes. Staff need to be fully aware of such guidance and infection control should be incorporated into their everyday nursing practice. The author discusses information that should be included and gives advice on formulating policies.
