Malaria--a global crisis

Abstract

The aim of this short review is to define the magnitude of the problem of malaria and the evidence that a malaria vaccine may be able to play a pivotal role in control of global malaria. Some of the challenges that would need to be faced in introducing a malaria vaccine as part of a global strategy are also discussed.
