[Treatment of tuberculosis and organization of care]
Abstract
In case of susceptible organism, treatment of tuberculosis is well defined and consists in a combination of 4 drugs during the first 2 months followed by 2 drugs for a total duration of 6 months. This regimen is effective when treatment is taken regularly and completely. The consequences of irregular treatment is the emergence of resistant strains which can be transmitted to other persons. The quality of treatment adherence is related to a collaboration between health care facilities and public health officials.
