Abstract
The paper outlines basic pathogenetic mechanisms of arterial hypertension (AH) including endothelial dysfunction, influence of risk factors and associated clinical conditions on AH prognosis; presents conception of AH risk stratification, aim and policy of antihypertensive drugs administration depending on the risk degree, the treatment algorithm; considers the problem of inadequate control of arterial pressure; provides criteria of assessing effectiveness of antihypertensive therapy.
