Abstract

Some recent studies showed that coeliac disease is diagnosed in 6-30% of patients previously classified as affected by irritable bowel syndrome. We described herein which are the arguments pro and cons the association between coeliac disease and irritable bowel syndrome, and which is the correct diagnostic algorithm to perform the correct diagnosis.
