Sulfasalazine induced agranulocytosis treated with granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor

E J Kuipers et al. J Rheumatol. 1992 Apr.

Abstract

We report the use of granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF) in a case of rheumatoid arthritis with sulfasalazine induced agranulocytosis, leading to a rapid bone marrow recovery within 7 days. This case and 2 others reported in the literature emphasize the need for further research into the possible role of GM-CSF in the treatment of drug induced agranulocytosis.
