The effect of E. coli on the absorption of vitamin B12

The effect of E. coli on the absorption of vitamin B12

C C BOOTH et al. Gut. 1962 Mar.

Abstract

Cultures of E. coli are capable of inhibiting the absorption of vitamin B(12) in the rat. Their inhibitory effect is totally abolished when the organisms are killed by heat and partially abolished when test doses of labelled B(12) are previously bound by intrinsic factor.
