AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE SEROLOGY OF CALVES INFECTED WITH PARASITIC NEMATODES. I. THE COMPLEMENT-FIXATION TEST
Abstract
Using the complement-fixation test, the sera collected from calves infected with Ostertagia ostertagi are shown to produce strong cross-reactions with a variety of boiled helminth antigens and sheep red cells. No statistical correlation is found between the naturally occurring cattle blood group antigen J and the amount of antibody formed. Calves infected with Dictyocaulus viviparus produce antibodies which cross-react with boiled antigen from Ostertagia ostertagi.
