Anal endosonography
Abstract
Endosonography of the anal canal is capable of imaging the internal and external sphincters in detail. Abnormalities of thickness may be seen in the internal sphincters and defects in both. The examination is indicated in the investigation of incontinence and anal pain, and may be of value in anal sepsis and malignancy.
