Reproductive behaviours of Japanese parents of children with mongolism

Abstract

The reproductive activity of Japanese mothers of mongoloid children decreases significantly after the birth of such a child, in comparison with mothers of normal children matched on the basis of maternal age. This decline of reproduction is observed more clearly among younger mothers whose fertility is thought still high.
