Abstract

Objective: To investigate the components of Smilax perfoliate.

Method: The chemical components were isolated by solvent extraction and column chromatography. The chemical structures were identified on the base of physical and spectral data.

Result: Nine compounds were isolated and identified as palmitic acid(I), beta-sitosterol(II), delta 7-5 alpha-cholesten-3-beta-ol(III), naringenin(IV), succinic acid(V), apigenin(VI), resveratrol(VII), daucosterol(VIII) and juncusyl ester B(IX).

Conclusion: Compound(I), (III), (IV), (VI) and (IX) were obtained from the genus Smilax for the first time.
