Travellers' diarrhoea
Abstract
Travellers' diarrhoea affects 15-20 million people each year worldwide. Intestinal infection is the major cause and this can be partially prevented by avoidance of contaminated food and drink. Antimicrobial chemotherapeutic agents are also effective in preventing and treating the condition but widespread indiscriminant use is not recommended.
