Current thinking on the management of necrotic and sloughy wounds
Abstract
Necrotic tissue and slough in a wound both prevent healing from taking place and slough may be a focus for infection. In addition to autolysis, the body's natural way of removing necrotic material, six methods of debridement are used in the UK today. This paper presents an overview of their main advantages and disadvantages.
