Sonographic and color doppler findings in aortoarteritis (Takayasu arteritis)
Abstract
Objective: To review the sonographic appearance of aortoarteritis.
Methods: A pictorial review of cases is presented.
Results: Sonography in conjunction with color and pulsed Doppler imaging is a valuable tool in the evaluation of aortoarteritis. We can accurately diagnose, grade, and follow the progress of the disease. The response to treatment can also be assessed. This presentation reviews the sonographic findings in aortoarteritis.
Conclusions: Color-coded Doppler sonography can facilitate an accurate diagnosis of Takayasu arteritis by the characteristic appearance. Associated organ involvement can also be assessed.
