Aurora kinases in spindle assembly and chromosome segregation

Daniel Ducat et al. Exp Cell Res. .

Abstract

The Aurora kinase family consists of three members, Aurora A, B, and C. The Aurora A and B kinases have emerged as essential regulators of cell division. While Aurora A kinase is implicated in regulating mitotic entry, centrosome maturation, and spindle assembly, Aurora B is required for correct chromosome segregation and cytokinesis. In this review, we summarize the roles of Aurora A and B in spindle assembly and chromosome segregation.
