Abstract

Juvenile dermatomyositis is a chronic inflammatory disease of skeletal muscle accompanied by skin involvement. It is a presumed autoimmune disease. Other organs may be involved. Corticosteroids are standard therapy and are associated with decreased mortality. Significant morbidity may occur.
