Abstract

The use of hydrolysed cow's milk formula seems to increase beyond what is recommended based on evidence regarding allergy-preventive effect. Infants born preterm are sometimes given such formulas without proven effect.

Conclusion: If the use of hydrolysed cow's milk formula is based on allergy-preventive aspects, evidence-based recommendations should be followed.
