Nurses' role in promoting the health of the elderly
Abstract
Professional nurses have taken a leading role in promoting health of the older adult through a variety of innovative programmes. Among the most important worldwide are in the areas of nutrition; safety; physical, mental, and economic health; and access to services. Some of the major issues and nursing care strategies in each of these areas are described below.
