Chemotherapy for ectopic pregnancy

S J Ory. Obstet Gynecol Clin North Am. 1991 Mar.

Abstract

Nonsurgical treatment of ectopic pregnancy has been potentiated by recent technologic advances including sensitive human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) assays and high-resolution ultrasonography. Options include systemic methotrexate and salpingocentesis. Systemic methotrexate has been documented to be safe, effective, and well tolerated. Preliminary evidence suggests that fertility potential is comparable for conservative surgery.
