Using performance feedback to change provider behavior

Abstract

Although physicians are loathe to admit it, data suggest a majority of them are impacted by what researchers refer to as clinical inertia--a failure to initiate or intensify therapy when it is clearly indicated. Successful remedies must focus on squarely on changing provider behavior.
