There is theoretical benefit to survivors of other primary cardiac arrest (i.e., non–ventricular fibrillation/tachycardia rhythms) if they meet other eligibility criteria. The decision to initiate hypothermia in these patients should be made in consultation with receiving staff in the emergency department or intensive care unit.
