Distal radius fractures: what's in and what's out

Martin I Boyer. Instr Course Lect. 2007.

Abstract

Sound peer-reviewed data on the surgical treatment of distal radius fractures, in terms of patients' functional outcome, ability to return to work, complications, and radiographic results, are few. At present, treatment of distal radius fractures is focused on the restoration of articular alignment, radial length, and volar inclination of the articular surface. Early diagnosis and treatment of fracture complications, such as type II complex regional pain syndrome, is encouraged based on published peer-reviewed data.
