Viral evasion of autophagy
Abstract
Restriction of both bacterial and viral pathogen growth by autophagy has been documented in vitro. In this issue of Cell Host & Microbe, Orvedahl et al. demonstrate for the first time that inhibition of autophagy by a viral gene product is essential for neurovirulence of herpesviruses.
