Exacerbation of myasthenia gravis after tourniquet release
Abstract
By avoiding use of neuromuscular blocking agents, regional anesthesia techniques may allow safer care of patients with myasthenia gravis. We describe a patient who had myasthenic crisis after foot surgery during spinal anesthesia. Lactate released on deflation of bilateral tourniquets constituted the most likely cause of the exacerbation.
