Lipid droplet and microfilaments in a neuron
Abstract
An isolated example of a neuron containing a large lipid droplet is described. The neuron was filled with an unusually large number of microfilaments, which were 65 A in diameter and formed a series of plaques surrounding the lipid droplet. It is suggested that these 65 A thick microfilaments are formed within degenerating neurons and represent a filament different from the 100 A thick neurofilament.
