Blane T Bafus et al. J Spinal Disord Tech. 2008 Aug.

Abstract

Study design: Case report.

Objective: We report a case of severe hypotension associated with prone positioning in a child with scoliosis and pectus excavatum.

Summary of background data: Pectus excavatum is commonly associated with scoliosis and can impact cardiac function.

Methods: Retrospective case analysis.

Results: After a modified Ravitch procedure to repair the pectus excavatum, the patient was able to undergo posterior spinal fusion.

Conclusions: Pediatric deformity surgery requires a multidisciplinary approach.
