Amantadine inhibits an early, M2 protein-dependent event in the replication cycle of avian influenza (H7) viruses
Abstract
Analysis of the effects of amantadine during a single cycle of replication of A/FPV/Rostock virus in vitro showed that, as with other influenza A viruses, an M2 protein-dependent step early in infection was inhibited. No effect was observed on later steps in replication under the conditions used.
