Cytological studies of the effect of hepatocarcinogens on liver cells of rats
Abstract
Morphological and cytological changes of liver cells were studied under sequential feeding of p-dimethylaminoazobenzend (DAB) and CCl4 injection. It was found that in hepatic cells of experimental animals definite macroscopical alterations occurred manifested in a change in the colour and the external texture of the liver, the appearance of nodules of different sizes, segmentation, and the abdominal cavity became filled with ascitic fluid, associated with spleenomegaly. The histopathological changes include a disturbance of the normal regularity of hepatic cells, nuclear atypia, hyperchromatism, vaculation of the cytoplasm and decreased mitochondrial and Golgi elements.
