Abstract
Information on all drugs dispensed in Denmark is registered and used for the compilation of statistics which are presented on the internet as a service for healthcare authorities. The registered information is also used for ad hoc analysis of suspected suboptimal prescription patterns and for scientific purposes. In conclusion, Denmark has a solid foundation on which to monitor and analyse drug consumption.
