The role of surgery in recurrent thymic tumors
Abstract
Surgery plays an important role in treating recurrent thymic tumors. This approach may require both induction therapy and oncological consolidation (adjuvant) in case the lesion shows extended invasion of the surrounding organs. Extended resections are justified to achieve complete removal of the recurrence. Recurring thymic carcinoma or carcinoids may be more difficult to treat.
