Use of histological methods in studies of osteoporosis
Abstract
The diagnosis of osteoporosis is usually based on using noninvasive methods. However, often bone histomorphometry is needed for the exclusion of other metabolic bone diseases and the evaluation of cellular mechanisms of osteoporosis. A combination of determination of serum biochemical parameters, measurement of bone mineral density, and quantitative dynamic evaluation of bone histology is an ideal tool for the evaluation of a patient with osteoporosis.
