Inhibition of binding of corticotropin-(1-24)-tetracosapeptide (Synacthen) to membrane receptors of adrenal cortex by cortisol

Inhibition of binding of corticotropin-(1-24)-tetracosapeptide (Synacthen) to membrane receptors of adrenal cortex by cortisol

A L Latner et al. Biochem J. .

Abstract

The binding of Synacthen to partially purified bovine adrenocortical plasma membranes was shown to be inhibited by cortisol. The findings suggest that cortisol is involved in a peripheral feedback mechanism for the control of its release.
