OWL1 is involved in the seedling VLFR. Wild-type (Col) and OWL1-overexpressing (OWL1-OE) seedlings have unfolded cotyledons after pulses of very low fluence FR light, while cotyledons of the phyA mutant remain folded and those of the owl1 mutant (owl1-1) are partially unfolded.
