A modified transantral endoscopic technique for the removal of a displaced dental implant from the maxillary sinus followed by simultaneous sinus grafting

T Cemal Ucer. Int J Oral Maxillofac Implants. 2009 Sep-Oct.

Abstract

The efficacy of transantral endoscopy for the removal of a foreign material from the maxillary sinus has been reported previously. Endoscopy has also been used for removal of dental implants after their displacement into the maxillary sinus either during implant placement or subsequently, during implant integration or loading. This case report describes the removal of a dental implant from the maxillary sinus using a modified transantral endoscopic approach combined with simultaneous grafting of the sinus cavity.
